This simple recipe for Olive Oil + Honey Face Mask is an easy beauty recipe you can whip up with common kitchen ingredients and makes your skin feel great.

Olive oil isn't just good for you're insides, it's good for your outsides too. It’s no secret that a diet high in Olive Oils from Spain will help you shine from the inside out. But when applied directly to the skin, the powerful antioxidants help restore the skin’s elasticity and gives you a gorgeous glow.

A glass carafe of olive oil on a counter.

This time of year I've just about had it up to here with my dull, flaky, dry skin. I’m throwing in the towel, yelling uncle - ENOUGH ALREADY! Even though it’s technically Spring, the bone dry, chilly weather just won’t seem to quit. I’m ready for long, humid sunny days spent picking tomatoes from the garden - and dousing them in lots of Olive Oils from Spain, of course.

But first, we must get through Spring. And Spring is the perfect time of year to clean things up a bit: clean up the house, clean up the yard, clean up our diet, and clean up our skin.

A single egg yolk in a small bowl.

Olive oil contains four major antioxidants which allow it to help cleanse, moisturize and protect our skin: Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Polyphenols and Phytosterols. Each of these powerful antioxidants help to neutralize the free radicals that cause skin damage and prevent them from doing harm.

The lipid profile of Olive Oil is very similar to that of our skin, so it works harmoniously to add moisture and deliver much needed vitamins and nutrients to our pores. For this skin mask, I’ve combined the powerful liquid gold with a few other gentle, skin-brightening (and edible!) ingredients you probably already have lying around:

An egg yolk delivers protein to the skin to boost collagen production and build elasticity. Egg yolks are also high in Vitamin A, B Vitamins and Zinc which help calm, hydrate and nourish dry, irritated skin.

Honey is a natural antiseptic, so it’s excellent for cleaning out pores and both treating and preventing acne. It’s also loaded with antioxidants and is extremely soothing and moisturizing, perfect for calming redness and healing scars.

Baking Soda is added to give the mask some body and works as an exfoliant. It has tiny granules that gently buff away dead skin cells to reveal glowing new skin underneath. It also has natural antiseptic properties and works to clean and balance the skin.

A tablespoon pouring olive oil onto an egg yolk with sugar in a small bowl.A small bowl containing an egg yolk, sugar, olive oil, and a spoon.A small bowl of olive oil and honey for a face mask.

Together with the Olive Oils from Spain, this face mask will leave you feeling clean, refreshed and ready for the warm sunny days ahead.

I like diy facial mask and now using facial mask with oatmeal, egg and apple. The recipe is very easy and effective. Ingredients: Apple, Egg Yolk, Oatmeal. Blend these 3 ingredients well. Spread the mixture all over your face. Let the mixture stay for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse it off with pure water. That's all. You can try this recipe.

I wonder why olive oil should be exactly from Spain only! while other countries like Tunisia where I come from are having a better and tastier extra virgin olive oil?!

I have used this face mask which helps to prevent the skin from the signs of premature ageing and maintains its elasticity. It is very easy to create it by following your steps as well. Thanks for sharing.

I have used a face scrub since I first discovered and tried the recipe: equal parts olive oil and honey with sea salt or brown sugar. I was looking for something for dry skin yet had a gentle exfoliate to take care of dead dry skin. This scrub is exactly what I needed for my skin I use daily for about 6-7 years now

Hi please I loved your recipe but I have a question I would love to make a oil and honey mixture(almond oil) and use on my body as an in shower lotion and rinse off I want to know if that is possible and how long will the mixture last and where can I keep it and if I should use like a Preservative? Thanks

Baking powder is baking soda with the addition of an acid to help activate. Im honestly not sure what this would mean in terms of your skin, but I'm curious to know your results!

This is the best treatment! I did it once and saw the results right away. I have done the mask treatment every day since the day I tried. It is a cost-effective and easy recipe with things you most likely already have at home. Easy to whip up, simple directions. I did 15 minutes and it came right off with warm water. I have spent who knows how much on face and wrinkle treatments and have seen nothing work like this did. Thank you for this idea!

It really does leave your skin refreshed and soft and all shiny making my face glow this i enjoyed this. Although i would recomend to put a touch of aloe into this as i think it would also benefit it.
