Creole Remoulade Sauce Recipe

This creamy, tangy Creole remoulade sauce is made with punchy ingredients like Creole mustard, horseradish and cayenne for a zippy flavor that goes so nicely with lots of different dishes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Creole mustard substitute spicy brown or stone ground dijon
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce Suggested: Crystal or Tabasco
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice about ½ lemon

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, Creole mustard, hot sauce, Worcestershire, horseradish, ketchup, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and lemon juice in a small bowl.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Always taste and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
  • Use a fresh bottle of horseradish if possible; it loses its sharpness over time.
  • Let the sauce rest for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
