Hey there! Happy Friday.
I had planned on sending out a new video today, per usual, but instead, I’m going to gush all about my Today Show experience while it’s still fresh in my mind.
But first, I want to give an especially warm welcome to all my new followers out there. Hiiiiiiii! I’m so happy to have you on board. 🙂
I’ll just start off with, WOW! Yesterday will go down not only as a watershed moment in my career, but as one of the best days of my life. Seriously! I’ve been watching the Today Show every morning for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always dreamed of doing a cooking segment on the show. I’m beyond lucky to have had the opportunity, and it went better than I ever could have imaged.
Chaser and I arrived at Rockefeller Plaza around 7am and made our way past the crowds and over to Studio 1A. After checking in through security, a nice NBC page named Josh greeted us at the greenroom. I’m not sure if all pages are as kind and eager as Kenneth from 30 Rock, but Josh was, and it was awesome. In the room with us was country singer Vince Gill, as well as actress Kate Hudson and her entourage. Yes, for the record, she is as gorgeous in person as she is on screen and she was wearing the most amazing brown suede over the knee boots I’ve ever seen.
After getting my hair and makeup touched up, we were escorted upstairs to the kitchen. Chaser took pictures as I ran through my demo and shot the little teasers that aired throughout the hour. On the other side of the room just a few feet away, Kathy Lee and Hoda recorded their interview with Kate Hudson and director Garry Marshall.
Before long, it was my time to shine. Matt Lauer suddenly appeared in the room, shook my hand and asked me how to pronounce Coley (lol). Next thing I knew, we were live. I stood there like a deer in headlights while he introduced me, but as soon as I opened my mouth to speak, I felt totally at ease.
After the segment was over, Matt dug into the spiedini and said he loved it. I wasn’t sure if he was telling the truth or just trying to be nice, but then I watched him sneak off with the plate out of the corner of my eye. Success!
Food Network Star was such an incredible, life changing experience, but being on the Today Show was somehow even more special. Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in and for your continued love and support. This whole “following your dreams” thing has been – and continues to be! – a wild and incredible journey, and I’m so happy and fortunate to have you along with me for the ride.
I’ll be back later this weekend with my usual recipe video, but for now, I’m just gonna continue basking in the afterglow.
Special thank you to Today.com Multimedia Producer, Samantha Okazaki, for the wonderful photos!
